Default '93 transmission problem

A friend has a '93 SSE. The transmission is slipping, and not shifting well when the selector is in overdrive.
He puts the trans in drive, and everything is happy.
Any ideas?

Sounds like problems with the overdrive gear... But problems with the torque converter are more frequent, however he should experience those in Drive too.

But the Bonnie has a lock up torque convertor right? So in overdrive, the TCC locks the trans in OD for better economy. In Drive this wouldnt have an affect probably.

Have you done a transmission flush yet? I had my 97 flushed at the dealer and it corrected a couple of trans slipping and clunking issues.
