okay, i got the throttle body cleaned out
the car runs really quiet now, hasnt died yet, and smoked for a while
i used STP throttlebody and something else cleaner
worked great there was a layer about 1/16 thick of the nastiest oil-like stuff i have ever seen, this STP stuff made it melt off, really suprised me
the car is so quiet you can talk over the motor with the hood open
crazy quiet
it was "searching" for the correct idle for a while but it seems to have decided 750RPM is good
i think i'll go ahead and replace my fuel filter now while i am kinda used to working on the car alot
after i get it running right i can start on the cruise control
ps, changing the alternator on a 82 f100 w/ L6 300cid is a PITA
