Sorry for not getting back for a while. Found a used cluster in a junk yard for $65 and swapped it out. Now speedometer and odometer both work! So, as my dog says, "I'm fixed!"

if you reset the trip will it go to .9 then stop working again? if so, its a common problem on the 87-91 odomenters, the gears inside strip.

Yeah, the last time I tried to reset the trip odo, it went to '0', but never moved again. That'* when I noticed, too, that the odometer no longer works.
