This time its on the '89 T Type.
The motor has around 70k miles, the trans around 155k, and the chassis around 200k miles.
When I started the car today it took turning the key a couple times for it to start. The starter would just "whiiirrrr.... Whiiiiiiiiiirr......" and then catch and start. I didn't think much of it as it does this during the winter but its always started on the second or third try.
Well... I go to the gas station after class and when I try to start it I get absolutely nothing. I turn the key and no clicking or anything. I had plenty of power and I tried tapping on the solenoid while another guy turned the key... still nothing. THis went on for about 10 minutes. Tried to start it in neutral too...
We eventually just pushed it off to the side where it sat for another 10-15 minutes while I waited for my brother to come and pick me up.
Just for grins and chuckles I tried to start it and it fired up right on the spot with no problems..
My first thought was the starter solenoid was crapping out.... my second thought was the ICM being too hot and crapping out.
So... any thoughts? At least I have the other T TYpe to drive, but I really don't want to drive it as I'm in the middle of gutting the interior for de-rusting. And its P/N switch is bad... and it has 2 bad mounts....

I agree with a new starter. I would check the cables first of course, but usually when you hit the key and hear the starter, but it doesn't engage the flexplate, you have a bad starter.

Cables are corrosion free.
Must be the starter then. Gah....
Starter is original to the motor so it has around 70k miles on it. I'll see about getting a junkyard gear-reduced L67 starter and bolts then.... shouldn't be too horribly expensive. In the mean time I'll just drive the red 88.
