Our cars arn't.. fast at accelerating, but let me tell you, my mom'* 2L 100hp beetle, could NEVER come close to accelerating as fast as my b'ville. You have to put your foot to the floor to do anything, mine on the other hand, you can give her 35% throttle, and she'* just as fast. Her beetle tops out at 92mph, and that'* sitting at redline. No governor, because it just can't go fast enough to need one .

Any VW with the 2.slow, 115hp motor is horrendously slow though. Sixty in 12.5 with an automatic, anyone?

actually its 105hp mate . It doesn't even have overdrive! its crazy, her car is a total POS as far as mechanics go. The 1.8L Turbo version is what I wanted her to get, which I think has 150hp, and it had the cool tranny where you can shift it yourself [can't remember the name, and don't come back with a stick!, its a slushbox, and it had OD]. But that was 2k more, so she wouldn't go for it. Oh well. She things its great, I think it sucks, so all is well.

It'* 115 (122lb-ft), and has been since 1998... Wanna bet?

As far as mechanics go, the 2.slow is VW'* most robust engine. It'll go VERY long before encountering problems. It'* the electronics that are quite poor in quality and reliability (how many power window regulators has she been though?). The 4-speed automatic does have overdrive. The shift-it-yourself tranny = Tiptronic.

But anyway, as we were saying, my stocker grille doesn't have the little "Pontiac" emblem on the bottom. Since it came from the junkyard, the emblem broke off before installation onto my car

just audio problems at the moment. It doesn't have OD mate.. trust me. i've paid attention to the shifts, I was in the car for 36hours in 10 days [trip to FL], and there is no OD.

thanks for the triptronic name.. I can never remember that.

The car seems solid, but I hate it, its small as hell, doesn't have leather seats, and the brakes SUCK! Even the ones that totally suck in my b'ville [mainly because i've worked on them].
