ok so i replaced my o2 sensor and im still getting code 44 after disconnecting the battery for 1 hour. i tried this twice and the code came back twice. but now i also noticed my rpm'* stay at a idle of 1500 to 1800 rpm'* while in park and when in drive it tends to redline the needle when im only going 35-40 mph... could this be due to the same problem from code 44 that i keep getting...? someone please help me as this is one that i cant figure out.. even with the break down chilton book or the original gm factory build manual..

When installing the O2 sensor, if you didn't use the special socket with the slit on the side, you may have damaged the O2 sensor wire by using a standard deep socket..

Default red line

You can't red line at 35 -40 unless your stuck in first gear or have major slippage. Does the trans shift?

The transmission problem you are describing sounds like what happens to a TH350 when you leave the vacuum line off the modulator. I have been told that on these cars the vacuum modulator only controls shift feel, not the point at which it shifts. Sorry, that'* all I've got.
