i think i may have the wife on my side now. but i will see what the final cost is. i think with the install we are somewhere around $700.
two more questions can i go smaller on the pulley, or do i need an exhaust mod first and will the stock spring retainers work - no one has said to replace those?

Depending on the springs you get you may need at minimum the steel retainers. (Titanium is nice but expensive and probably not useful to you unless you plan on reving past 6200 say with a cam). You will want to scan the car but you can quite possibly go to the 3.3 or 3.25 if your KR is non existant or low. Rockers will drop your boost by about 1 pound.
The stock exhaust is pretty free flowing and the best thing you can do for the car exhaust wise is headers and a free flow cat. Any mods beyond the rockers will probably necessitate these.

I understand its a few hundred more for the stuff but its cheaper to do it now while you have the rockers off then to do it again later when you realize your getting valve float and the car wont shift. Remember valve float can cause the car to lean out and you could chunk a piston (we had a club member just go through this). I'll say its HIGHLY recommend and leave it at that. My car only had 35K miles on it and I had valve float at 5900. The car would not shift 1-2 at WOT.
It is always wise to have supporting mods for the stuff your adding. Being close to INTENSE and with the local car club I hear a ton of horror stories about things like this.

OK, you're scaring me now.
May be cheap insurance.

Engine warm, tech ii attached, car brake torqued stabbed to 4 grand and your done. No big deal.
The car will run without a CASE done but will not be optimal. I don't know that I have EVER heard of someone blowing an engine doing a CASE. It litterally takes less then 5 seconds.

it wasn't blowing an engine doing the CASE . . . there was some talk on another post about blowing it when the CASE wasn't done and some problems with the PCM'*, etc. i think it might have been on 2000SilverBullets "1.9' are the worth it" post.
