Wow big thank you to everyone for the support and kind words 8)
John is off to classes and left me his laptop to get caught up around here, he's a great guy and his room mates have been awesome showing me a good time
We played 'rock band' last night for over 4 hours, my voice is shot today but I can only imagine how they're ears feel now

I did all I could to the explorer yesterday for John, fixed his leaky windshield washer pump, few trim pieces and a total detail.
They keep a very clean house so I dont have much to do today, I detailed the bathroom yesterday and cleaned the microwave this morning, wish there was more I could do express my gratitude.....in time ;)

I called the shop this morning and they were waiting on some bushings, have to call back at 2 to see if they will have it done today and I can pick it up. Other wise I will have another day here.

myfirstbonnie 02-19-2008 04:31 PM

Next time break down here in portland. I could use a good detail on my cars ( and house too).

You bet Matt would be glad to detail the cars for you but I hope this is the last trouble I will have.

Car wont be ready untill noon tomorrow :(
Gotta spend another night away from my sweetie........I miss you :(

Guess my new friends have another night of my terrible singing or maybe I should try the drums again :P

PontiacMom 02-19-2008 05:27 PM

Hey honey, we miss you too. I know John is taking good care of you. Please just drive safe, and get home to us as soon as you can.

myfirstbonnie 02-19-2008 05:53 PM

Hey just to let ya know, you don't have to break down to visit. I know it sucks having to go through this and hopefully it will all end soon. I understand you want to get home and you are wanted home.

Just be sure to be careful and have a safe final trip.

And a repeat, if you are ever in the area feel free to stop by. pm sent

A little update from the Oregon end. Everyone here saw it installed, but not out of the block:

Drove great for 3 months like this! :D

Believe it or not, the cylinder bore just needs to be honed. Bearings look great. Crank too.

repinS 02-19-2008 07:52 PM

that'll buff right out

harofreak00 02-19-2008 07:55 PM

new table center piece....

no, no, that can't be it, would seem just to "right"

new mantle piece? ya!

J Wikoff 02-19-2008 08:13 PM

You sure you could even salvage that bore? There's some ugly things happening on the side of the piston that couldn't have been friendly to the bore.

myfirstbonnie 02-19-2008 08:21 PM

Cast block, aluminum piston. Different story if it was aluminum and aluminum

J Wikoff 02-19-2008 08:37 PM

What I'm seeing is the scoring below the top ring. If stuff got down there, it was pushed very hard against the bore.

willwren 02-19-2008 09:15 PM

I'll get some bore pics, but I can tell you that you can barely discern the marks with a fingernail. Soft aluminum vs. a much harder bore.

PontiacMom 02-19-2008 09:29 PM

I thought O'Neil may have tried to call here, but the phone has been busy for the last two hours.......I have a teenager  Anyway, one less worry here at our end, I called Sears, and they will gladly hold on to the washer and dryer until you get home. The woman there was very understanding and was very nice. So, one less thing here.

The kids say hi, and Andrew has try-outs for the tournament basketball team tomorrow.

2000SilverBullet 02-19-2008 10:22 PM

 That's a much bigger chunk out of that piston than I had imagined.

Sounds like, with a new piston and a simple freshening, you will have a spare bottom end to hang on your engine stand. ;)

Personally, I would build it up with forged pistons. You got lots of time Bill. Buy one piston every month.

There's so much snow up there, you shouldn't be getting your clothes dirty until Spring. 8)

PontiacDad 02-20-2008 12:21 AM

I can vouch for the soft feel on the cylinder wall, hardly noticable only can feel with a finger nail really.
Pics wont show much but Bill does have a trick camera 8)

PontiacDad 02-20-2008 12:11 PM

The meet should be over today, John is taking me to the tranny shop around 11.
This has been a fantastic meet in spite of the circumstances.

Will post tonight when I finally get home.

willwren 02-20-2008 12:13 PM

Godspeed, keep the rubber side down, and NO TICKETS.

No hurry, you have a 6-hour head start!

PontiacMom 02-20-2008 05:34 PM

Ummm, has anyone heard from my husband?? I really need to know if he is okay ;)

J Wikoff 02-20-2008 05:34 PM

Shouldn't he be picking up his car by now? Probably test driving.

willwren 02-20-2008 05:48 PM

There might be an update in General Chat.

He should be paying as we speak.

Those roads look like they were fun to do long distance travel on.

*right click, save Bill's picture*

hello photoshop

radomirthegreat 02-22-2008 03:51 AM

Those road pics are amazing! I kind of want to drive there, but at the same time, I wish we had heated roads. In fact, looking at those pictures, I want heated roads even more badly! It would be really "cool" to drive on a hot road in the winter time. However, that icy road does look really nice with the background. How fast did you drive?

PontiacDad 02-22-2008 08:47 AM

How fast did you drive?
Slow, usually takes me 14 hours to Bills, that trip was 22 hours, bit of a delay with 2 avalanches

Heated roads would be cool but as it is I seen 4 dead moose along the way, I think the heat would draw in even more critters :?

driverjohn2005 02-22-2008 07:11 PM

O'Neil, it was a pleasure to have you here in Ellensburg. I was more than happy to host you and my roomates actually miss having you here!!!!! I cannot wait for WCBF to see you and the family again!

2000CadillacSTS 02-22-2008 09:04 PM

Its true O'Neil...it was definitely good times!

radomirthegreat 02-23-2008 12:21 AM

Oh, I forgot to ask concerning the meet. You said you had much higher oil pressure because of the modification you made. Is that with the so-called Oil Volume Kit from either ZZP or Intense that is meant to increase Series 2 engines' oil pressure? Is your car the first with this mod?

I remember either jr's3800 or sandrock mentioned that if that OV Kit really works on Series 1 engines, he'll start putting it on every Series 1 engine he can. I was actually about to order this and try it out on my own car, but it seems you beat me to it, if it really is the OV Kit. Would you mind adding a couple of details about the oil pressure in the Zilla?
