Bill, How does O'Neil's trani fluid look :?:

Is it cooked again :?:

If it is, you should be able to have it changed by the time he wakes up. ;)

willwren 02-09-2008 02:10 PM

Didn't get his keys before he crashed, otherwise we'd have the whole top end off alreay.

GoldenBullet 02-09-2008 03:02 PM

looks like fun 8)

willwren 02-09-2008 04:07 PM

The best laid plans.......

Bone Evil showed up without the GenV to Northstar TB adapter. Being sent down by Pmom. Shipping here is faster than shipping there, cuz shipping here is downhill. He'll be here a couple weeks, so we'll finish the GenV swap when we get bored or (god forbid) run out of beer.

In the interests of keeping people occupied and out of trouble, we decided to rip out a motor. It's sunny and 55 degrees. Perfect day for it. We'll be busy for an hour or so.

JMH1950 02-09-2008 04:21 PM

It's sunny and 55 degrees.

:(
Go ahead, rub it in.

Clouds are so low I can't see the tops of the neighbours trees. At least it's not raining.

x2, well, they aren't that low
But they're low enough to make me regret washing my car today

Shoulda checked the weather...

JMH1950 02-09-2008 05:11 PM

That's next on my honeydo list. Wash the car.

AND drink some beer and wish I was in Oregon playing with super chargers and pulling suspensions. :(

Need autopsy pics of the motor...

2000SilverBullet 02-09-2008 05:46 PM

Too bad we can't do streaming video of the events.

So it sounds like PDad will wait to tear down BoneEvil until his adapter gets there next week and in the mean time just to kill time they are pulling out Zilla's engine and are going to have some fun. :D

PontiacMom 02-09-2008 06:37 PM

Ummm, I am a little confused here :? Will you please have O'Neil call me..........You guys are making plans without talking to me first.....A couple of WEEKS?????? I am going to have to say a really, really BIG NO on that one. He is not staying there a couple of weeks, he has one week, that is all........Unless he has forgotten what happens at the end of this month AGAIN!!!!!

2000SilverBullet 02-09-2008 06:59 PM

:bdoor:

Uh..Oh :!: Guess I spilled the beans.

Yes, it was planned from the beginning. He forgot the adapter on purpose to give him an excuse to have to wait a few days to tear down your car.

If the part comes by Friday, he should only need next weekend to finish her off. ;)

PontiacMom 02-09-2008 07:38 PM

I guess if he is staying there a couple of weeks, I guess he won't mind me running off to California for a couple of weeks............ALONE!!!! Ah yes, sitting on beach, doing nothing!!! Heaven on earth ;)

rrounds 02-09-2008 07:50 PM

Hey Bill,
Looks like everyone is having fun(hope John won't leave you the same gift he left us) HA HA HA HA , tell them all a BIG HELLO from Cindy and i and you guys try to stay out of trouble. :D

ROD
wish i could have made it, but with my Dad and then the transmission(should get the car back on the 12th) well i'll have to wait till summer. :(

2000SilverBullet 02-09-2008 08:56 PM

 No posts from them for the last 5 hours :!:

They should have the engine out and torn down by now. 8)

willwren 02-09-2008 08:57 PM

Out and torn down. Cleaning up to head to Mongolian Grill. Pdad has been napping for a couple hours.

You guys remember the borescope pics of the piston?

They didn't do it justice.

Alot of pics later. We're starving and dirty right now.

Yeah, that piston is done for sure

Did you happen to do a compression test on it right before you pulled it?

willwren 02-09-2008 09:33 PM

I did after it popped. 135psi. All the rest were 150-155. New motor is 160-165 cetified.

There's a couple more rings below that one. ;) Can you imagine the horsepower difference between the old and new motors?

Bonnevillan 02-09-2008 09:41 PM

did he drive it there like that?

Right, I remember that. I was just wondering if it went any lower then that?

That's MY car (one of them)

Yes, I drove it here. Yesterday, today, and every day since the piston popped.

That piston looks worse that the borescope pics.

You're probably at the Mongonlian grill chowing down and drinking wheat ale now.

What's the plan for tomorrow :?:

Tomorrow we'll assemble the cylinder heads, brackets, timing chain, cover, and maybe the valvetrain, and drop that in the car while we have the people here. It's cake from there.

I can piece away at it easily in the garage from there. I still have a little work to do on the intercooler.

chadow427 02-10-2008 02:12 AM

Man, I wish I coulda made it, looks like a blast!!!

2000SilverBullet 02-10-2008 10:47 AM

Should take a few minutes to clean all that road salt out of BoneEvil's engine bay.

Matt, your Alero looks fast with BoneEvil's drag slicks. 8)

Sounds like a good plan to get all the bull work done while the group is there. :P

I haven't seen any blood yet but from the serious looks on all the faces we all know serious work is going on. :2thumbup:

willwren 02-10-2008 11:01 AM

No blood that I'm aware of at all. A couple are probably a little stiff and sore this morning though.

Getting the coffee going, and then after everyone wakes up (John) we'll kick on the compressor. It's raining right now, but should clear later.

J Wikoff 02-10-2008 11:42 AM

You gonna stick the boroscope in through the exhaust cutout to look for piston chunks in the cat?

willwren 02-10-2008 11:45 AM

Can't. It's a Y that I can't turn through. I could from the DP though. Not really worried about it. Most of it was tiny pieces and molten on the top of the piston after the boom.

What pieces went downstream won't be a problem. Besides, I bypass my cat temporarily when it matters (at the track).
