The way shifting was MEANT to be:
The pump isn't the noise. That'* mild SC noise through a FWI.
The pump isn't working any harder. The modulator works like the FPR. It bypasses what it doesn't need, but the pump works at a constant speed based on engine rpm'*. The modulator isn't bypassing any fluid right now.
No harm to the pump whatsoever. Big break for the clutches, and some load on the diff, but I'm not worried about that.

Shifting like that is GOOD for the clutches. Bad for the gears and diff, but my gears and diff aren't OEM anymore. 
If they held up to the launches at WCBF, they can handle 2000 miles a year of this kind of shift. If they don't, that'* what I have a garage for, right?

Interesting. At WOT, it doesn't lurch so much, but the shifts into 2nd and 3rd are QUICK. Uber-quick. In fact, I don't think the PCM has enough time to fully retard the timing before each shift completes. As I hit 2nd, the car lurches forward under power.
