Physical installation of the shifter is pretty easy. The front bolts right up and this is my solution for the rear:



That U shaped piece is from a 93 shifter (I'm not sure what it'* actual function is). You can also see some shiny areas where I had to grind so the piece would fit. The console obviously needed some cutting. You know that you've hit the point of no return when you cut out the PRND321 section of the console. It took some trial and error to fit it over the shifter. There are provisions for two lights in the inner trim piece but the bulbs are much smaller than the originals. No biggie... just grab the two bulbs & sockets from the donor car and splice in.

Now that it'* in and working, it has to look good. This is the challange. The clip tabs on the inner trim are made of acrylic and are extremely brittle. I accidentally broke one off and had to cut the other when I decided on a method of mounting. If the epoxy holds, the inner piece will be firmly mounted and you could potentially be done but I'm going to refine it further with more fiberglass. The PRN... is blue which doesn't make me very happy so I'm already thinking of making my own inner trim piece. I also have to figure out what to do with the little "brushes" to cover the open tracks.

I bought my car with a broken latch for the storage bin so every time I wanna put a drink down, I have to use two hands to separate the two parts. I haven't come up with a simple solution except for ordering another part.

Except the parts are discontinued....... :(

Here are the results of a couple days of fiberglassing and sanding my hiney off. I'm pretty happy with it although I wish the lettering was red instead of blue and I couldn't come up with any "brush" type thingy to cover the opening on the outside.








I managed to blend the flat and curved surfaces pretty well. The following pics try to illustrate how much the surface was built up in order to look decent:










My brother'* GF is a graphics designer so I'm going to see if I can do up another one with red letters and LED backlighting. This will be OK for now though.
