Show us your ugly side
That's right, we all know that the camera is kind to our old cars. Many of us have "secrets" that we haven't shown or shared. This thread is aimed at showing the blemishes and everyone knowing that few of our cars are perfect.

Okay, here we go
Rear bumper, above and to the left of the drivers side exhaust tip, there was some paint transfer from the Previous owner, its rubbed down to the plastic, its black. Ikkkk Attachment 55331 Supercharged badge is starting to oxidize, same with the wheel! :shock: Attachment 55332 |

Hey Haro, some of that like the key scratching, clear coat failure and chips in the front end can't be fixed, but a ton of that shown in the pictures could easily (OK it would take several hours of work) removed with a polisher. A lot of it like the scratches on the mirrors and the water spots are just on the surface and can be removed with some compound. By hand it would be very time consuming and tiring, but if you can spare a couple hundred bucks for a DA polisher, pads and polish I think you would be very pleased with the results.

I don't have pictures of alot of the problems on my car, but here are a few of them.
the dealer must have said... lets cover up all these scratches with a HUGE dealer badge! (and it was so.) I found all kinds of deep scratches under the dealer badge. They're hard to see in this picture, but believe me, they're there, and they're deep! Attachment 55316 Some wierd dent on my passenger side C panel Attachment 55317 My "chrome" wheels are rusted Attachment 55318 My hood/bumper don't align (they should meet each other and the bumper is WAY too far forward! Attachment 55319 On the fart right side of this picture, in the center of the bumper, you can see two lines from a large crease someone put into my bumper from what looks like a trailer hitch! There's also small scratches throughout the driver's side of the rear bumper corner. Attachment 55320 |
just the holes in the grille..rear bumper not aligned correctly, other than that not even a sign of a door ding on my car oddly enough.

I've been ardently working to eliminate the ugly sides on my car and don't have much left, exterior cosmetics-wise that is, but here's what I have pictures of in my PB account.
Paint chips and scrapes on the front bumper and nose and a small crack in the center of the front fascia. Note that the broken grille has already been replaced. This was just the best pic I had that showed the ravages. Attachment 55311 This shows the slight trunk lid mis-alignment (that I just need to take some time to repair, but haven't) that is mostly on the pass. side. Again, note that the crazed cracks in the tail are no longer there as the whole center tail has been replaced with the BB Special light-up center tail. Last summer I had a fight with a deer. I won Attachment 55284 Right side of the rear bumper was scraped when I picked up the car. Tried a few times to fix it, but just was too big, with too deep of scratches to be effective. Attachment 55285 Steering wheel had the color worn off over the years These are only the pics I have on my PB account. I also had rust over the rear passenger tire. It was worse than Bandits. Also both my mirrors had scrapes on them ( no idea where they came from). |
I have quite a few spots...the camera really helps my car out, the paint looks good 'n all, but i have rock chips on the front, scratches from parking lots, paint peel on the rear bumper cover, paint peeling in the fender wells, tar and road glue on the rockers (the reason the fender well is peeling, stupid pressure washer) and of course those wonderful ripples and dents in my hood :evil: thats what the camera covers up the best, i have pictures of some,

I have a few minor dings here and there. A couple tiny chips in the hood. Surprisingly great paint and body....
EXCEPT for the rear quarter panels (both sides). A body shop did a half-ass job of painting when they replaced the rear bumper (before Jim bought the car). They basically taped a line across the panels and painted below - NO blending - Irritating as hell. On the left quarter panel: Attachment 55266 Attachment 55267 Attachment 55268 |
