Paul, have you checked the price of a GM crate engine?

I found that for my truck it was cheaper than a rebuild from Canada Engines.

2 grand delivered to my door. Maybe more for you cause you got them 2 ferries. And a 4 year warranty.

Not a bad idea, thanks John.

The only downside is ending up with a non matching numbers drivetrain but that would only matter in a full classic resto or future resale value.

I'll check into it next week when then reopen.

New thread to begin as soon as this photobucket download..........

or future resale value.

I don't quite get your thinking. I would have thought that a new crate engine would increase the resale value of the car if Victor wanted to sell it later on. Assuming everything else was in good shape also.

I've been told that if you buy the crate motor south of the border it is half the cost. Not sure about that, but that'* what I was told. What I do know is that my crate motor came with heads, oil pan, valve covers, timeing cover and all the gaskets needed to put everything else on it. I couldn't rebuild my original for the same cost.

Yup, Weaton GM in Nanaimo. Wholesale though the company I work for.
You should be able to get a discount also if you use your company name.

I checked the internet GM site for crate motors and our 3800 engine is not listed.

Hey, Wheaton in Nanaimo was where I bought the SilverBullet.

I'll call them on Tuesday when they reopen and ask anyways, Thanks.
