I pay $708 every six months, and I'm 19, but I've NEVER been pulled over. I have liability, and compensation (added $5 a month) *knock on wood*

I pay about $800 a year per vehicle but I have a 10 year safe driving discount of 40%.
Victor only has a 5% discount for 1 year safe driving. At least, he is a very good driver and has never had an accident.

So now we have a dead Bonne in the driveway with a full tank of fuel. :(

th reason mine is cheap is because i only have liability... no need for full coverage on a $500 car

Ya but it'* so easy to get off topic and it kinda helps to divert attention from the problems we now have.

So I just got off the line with the Engine Rebuild center in Vancouver. It'* the best we have in this province, so I'm told.

It would have to be a custom rebuild because no engines of that vintage are stocked.
They would need the car for a week.
We would have to have it towed 200 miles to get it there including two ferry crossings. The Ferry cost alone is $50.

Cost for the rebuild of the long block is $2,525, not including any of the accessories like the Supercharger but we could easily do that ourselves.
Cost to re/re the engine is $1,200.
So bottom line is $3,775 plus 5% GST plus 7% PST on $2,525
Grand total of $4,140.

That'* not going to happen right away

Even if we pulled the engine and re-installed it ourselves with shipping the cheapest cost would be $3,050.

I think it might be wise to cut our loses now and try and sell what'* left for whatever we can get for it. Parting it out is not even in the cards cause of where we live, there is no market and shipping costs negate any gains

Victor may be best to just suck it up and save A LOT of money to buy something decent for the summer.
I might even be able to help him cause I'll have more time after May.

I don't understand why you don't put in a used L67 from the states (under $500) and have it shipped up there ($500 shipping?)

Well Haro, try and understand the risk we took in buying this car did not pay off. :(

So the risk of paying 1/3 the cost of a fresh rebuilt engine for the unknown again, is not particularly attractive right now.

I am not 100% convinced that my son was 100% responsible for what happened.

Yes he is responsible for the consequences though. That was aways part of the deal.

He is working right now and is trying to decide what to do. I think he is leaning towards saving some money and rebuilding the engine himself. He really liked the car after owning it for two whole days before this happened.
