The DitchHopper is wrecked... R.I.P. 1993 - Jan 19, 2007
When the doorbell rings at 3am... you know it isn't going to be good. I opened up the door to find two County Sherrif'* standing on my porch... "We're looking for Nick ..." (my oldest son - aka DitchBoy) "...he had an accident tonight" (first thought...Dear God is he okay? Second though...oh ****!! Not his Bonnie!!) "...He'* okay, but we need to talk to him....he called and reported the accident, but he left the scene of the accident." (Third thought..damn...a ticket for sure!)
Nick is at his dad'* house this weekend...so I sent the men in blue off to that house. Quick call to the boy, "...the cops are on their way. Call me when they are gone."
Turns out, he hit a snowdrift right about the time a deer ran out and lost control coming home from the gf'* house around 2am. The good news: he missed two signs. The bad news: he hit a fire hydrant.
"Mom...the Bonnie is totaled."
"Are you sure? How do you know?"
"...Mom... the front clip is sticking out where it isn't supposed to. Front bumper was hanging by one piece of plastic. It was still running, but both tires on that side are flat, the fender is FUBAR'd, the windshield is spiderwebbed. Trust me...it'* totaled."
"***^...***^...and you're okay?"
"Yep! Not a scratch".
"Imagine if you would have taken that hit in that Ford Escort you used to drive"
"No doubt - I'd be f*** up for sure"
"...I want pictures of it...I'm sorry...is that wrong?"[/i]
And despite this...the boy still has a sense of humor. "...this is one ditch it couldn't hop." (we named it The Ditchhopper due to an incident about a year ago.)
1992 SSEi...The DitchHopper...purchased from Randman1 one year and one month ago.
Nick and Boosty...the day he bought it from Randman1
He was so excited...
Damage from the first ditchopping experience
Ditchboy and the DitchHopper went to NEBF last year...
It was part of our infamous 22 car line up at NEBF 05...in between JimmyFloyd'* and 1993SLE'* white bonnies
All in the family... Here'* the "before"....
...and here'* the "after"
This is what a fire hyrdant will do to a car...
Guess he won't be selling this rim...
Driver'* side beat up from the ditch (it was a deep one)
Rear driverside rim...doesn't look bent...??
Ugliness
Rear bumper cover looks to be in good shape though...
Passenger side...no damage from this accident...but there are some traces of guardrail from an interstate incident.
...ummm....yea....the bumper'* not supposed to stick out that far....
Looks like it was a good sized ditch in order for the hydrant to do damage this far up on the hood
Windshield cracked....
...another Bonnie down... waiting to see what the insurance says...yes, many good parts - interior wasn't touched... may be having things for sale soon...and yes, I'll hock the badges regardless of what happens to the car...and the custom visors
and doorpanels

Wow...Im glad to hear he is okay though!
That car did its job, as some end up having to do in the end, its unfortunate, I should know.

Won't do you much good Sinister, it'* a Series 1. You'd be moving to an older engine, and you'd only gain about 20hp for the trouble. Better to build what you've got.
Tracy, glad Ditchboy'* OK, now go beat him to death.
