Welp...the pictures and the subject line pretty much spell it out. Since I haven't been working on the Bonneville, I've spent a lot of time doing rehab on this car.









Still a lot of work left to do. Finish the wiring, repair a lot of plastic parts, new t-top/door seals, carpet and headliner. (In other words, how to drop $2000 into a 20 year old car.) But, she'll qualify as an antique car in Florida pretty soon

Looks to be in much better shape then my dad'* 70 1/2 Camaro Keep us up on how the progress goes.

1977 400 4-bolt (Mildon Splayed) Small block, bored and stroked to 420cid.
Alumunim 58cc GM Heads
JE forged dished pistons
Forged Crank, internally balanced
327 Rods
Aluminum short water pump
Edelbrock Performer manifold
Holley 0-80457S (600cfm, vac secondary, electric choke)
GM HEI distributor with vac/mech advance)
Edelbrock headers with gutted out cat.
misc bits and pieces (double roller timing chain, HV oil pump, etc.)

THM700R4 with a manual valve body and a modified TCC to work without an ECM commanded lockup.

Only one driven accessory - the alternator. (I did the 1LE A/C delete, and switched to a manual steering box to loose the P/* pump.)

All this stuffed in a 1987 Vin "*" (2.8L) Sport Coupe chassis... in otherwords, super sleeper

Biggest mistake made thus far: I should have just went straight to a 502 BBC and been done with it.

I'm currently on day three of gutting out the interior. New carpet showed up today but I still need to get the wiring behind the dash cleaned up and the extra circuits removed.

I'll have to admit to always having been a Camaro fan, despite the fact that so many of the car mags have featured them enough to make the reading public tired of them as builds. The '69 I owned when younger bears the responsibility for that. I think it was the most fun car I've owned.

Beyond that, the '80s third gen body style is now ripe for becoming the next popularproject focus of many. They are a dime a dozen for decently clean chassis' and many, many parts are avaialable for the moddin'.

Once again, good project!! Keep us apprised on the progress.

I'm hoping for the magic "1 hp per cubic inch"... but, it will be whatever it is (which is never enough)

More Nuke-idge.... Got the dash out in one piece

Last of the Nuke-idge.... Steering column out, batting removed, most of the excess wiring tracked down and removed.

Perhaps I should just hang a tach on the column and sneek the car down to New Smyrna Speedway for a couple of laps

Some interesting thoughts for Bonneville related mods: I removed the transmission shifter interlock to the steering column. Turns out to be dirt simple on GM cars.. the cable from the shifter runs under the carpet up to the column where it blocks the ignition switch with a extending pin. On philips screw holds this on and when removed, the car no longer needs to be in park to start the car or remove the key. (So you can use any of the aftermarket ratchet shifters on the floor to shift the car...like the B&M shifter in this Camaro)
