Never use a screwdriver, pliers or, C-clamp the retract the piston. Not using the proper tool is the fastest way to break the parking brake if it is incorperated into the caliper.

Some BMW'* use the inside of the rotor hat as a drum type parking brake.

Your best bet is to get a good service manual and see what is involved. German cars are either nice and simple or very over engineered.
