Default Ghetto-fabulous CTS

After we had a large snowfall in Michigan a few weeks ago and I was unable to make it into work due to my CTS being horrible in the snow, I decided to spring for some snow tires. I remembered that I had 16" snow tires on my Aurora two years ago and decided to put those on the CTS. The tires on the Aurora are the same size as the base model CTS. I did not have any 16" wheels though so I ordered some from discount tire. After two weeks of being on order I got a call today that "the wheels were finally ready." I headed over there this morning and sat in the waiting room for three hours. Finally someone came from the work area and told me "we seem to have misplaced the other two wheels." They told me that they had other 16" wheels available and that I could buy four of those instead. BUT, all of the other wheels were atleast double what the steel wheels cost! I was paying $50 per wheel. I told them forget it and just put on the two rear snow tires for now. They're going to call me when "the other two wheels arrive." Should be interesting. For now, the CTS is pretty ghetto but it'* alright because atleast now I can drive in deeper than 1" of snow without getting stuck. (literally.) The difference in grip is amazing, even on just wet roads. I'm waiting for some actual snow to fully decide if they're worth it or not. The two rears cost me a total of $150 for both the wheels, mounting, balancing, and lugnuts.

It all melted the day before I got the snow tires/wheels put on. Before that we had a good foot of snow. It'* snowing again today though.

Yup, but, no other way to find wheels for $50/piece and I don't want to put on stock wheels from any other vehicle. (that'd look even more odd.) Cheap alloys that are 16" would have to be cleaned everyday since they'd probably have surface rust quickly. For convenience and functionality this was the best bet. :( Also I have the sport package with larger upgraded brakes so many 16" wheels won't fit. The steelies are luckily thin enough on the inner lip to clear with fractions of an inch to spare.

IMO you really should get some upfront too.. Steering/stopping is more important than go-ing.

I'm working on it. It was a screw-up on discount tire'* end. They've mis-ordered my wheels three times now. My original order was placed nearly 3.5 weeks ago!
