Default Auto connect to Wi-Fi

I recently purchased a 2022 Silverado 1500. I have a data plan but it will not auto connect my iPhone to the Wi-Fi when I’m in the vehicle. I have seen other threads with similar issues but none had a cause or solution. i know it’* not the phone settings because I also own a 2018 Acadia and it will auto connect to my iPhone and Wi-Fi. Does GM have a fix for this problem?

I'm not sure if GM has a fix for this problem. It would be worth asking them.

I wonder what would happen if you have your iPhone forget every network that it'* ever been on and then set up on this Silverado with auto-connect enabled. If this works then it might be something with the phone after all, and if not then you'll know it probably isn't the phone

I turned off my Wi-Fi on my iPhone as I was leaving my home in my truck. Once I was away from my home Wi-Fi I turned the Wi-Fi on my phone back on and selected my truck Wi-Fi and it connected. However, it only connected automatically once. I still think it has to be some issue with GM.

The way WiFi works, an access point, such as at Starbucks, or at my house, or in your Silverado, advertises (or not, but that'* a whole other discussion) and the client device controls when it connects to the access point. The access point doesn't have a way to know whether a device is set to automatically connect or not automatically connect to it.

Does your iPhone have auto-connect enabled in its settings for the Silverado'* network?

If you're not willing and/or able to try the test above, see if you can get someone with an android set up on your Silverado'* network, with auto-connect enabled, and try the same test with them. This would confirm or refute the behavior. It would also be helpful if you can provide screen shots of the respective phones' network setup screens for the Silverado'* network.
