Default no crank/ service air bag 2011 malibu

my sons 2011 malibu has an intermittent problem in that when he tries to start the car there'* no crank or click and service air bag message comes on. This started happening after he had a seat belt recall done.He called the dealer where he had the recall done and was told it was highly unlikely that they caused the problem. The problems that I've read about with the air bags doesn't mention the no crank problem He had auto zone read the codes but they can't read body codes. Has anyone have this happen to them? Will the air bag module cause no crank?

Air bag system has nothing to do with a no start.....that campaign would have nothing to do with a no crank.....has nothing to do with electronics of the car....just replaces the anchor bracket and inspect the flexible steel cable(replace if necessary).....

You need to go to a garage that can read "B" codes.....I think you are looking for a B2958 or B2960....not sure why service air bag comes on at the same time, unless there might be a BCM problem...

2011 GMC Acadia......initial situation began with this same problem......within 69 months this led to other unexplainable electrical problems with: interior lights, guage cluster, security system, door locks.

Problem turned out to be the BCM. Dealership attempted to reprogram the original bcm but the bcm would not accept commands.

Dealership eventually replaced the bcm, programmed it to the vehicle and all was good again.

This post was supposed to read "within 6 to 9 months".... Not 69 months. Sorry for the typo error
