My son'* Fiancé has a 2000 Impala-V6 that I am stumped with. The vehicle has no power in the cabin, will not turn over or start, has no power to any part of the instrument panel, does nothing when the key is turned along with a host of other issues that are all related to these. Literally, the car is dead. Battery is fully charged and cleanly connected.


We have checked all cables from the battery for connection and all appear good. All fuses are good. Checked the engine compartment fuses and both fuse boxes in the cabin.


The only life that shows in the entire cabin is a red blinking light on the radio and the engine light stays on when the key is in the on position. There is no other power in the cabin besides that.


I would like to help my son get this car back alive so they can use both vehicles.


Has anyone had this issue with this model? Any suggestions on how to get this baby powered back up?

I would check main power feeds. Ignition switch, fuses, etc, both under hood and under dash. Essentially you need to trace wiring to where power stops.

Agree....with key "on", make sure you have power on BOTH SIDES of all fuses(use a test light).......If you have a bunch of fuses with no power, and the large power fuses are ok, then I would be leaning towards an ignition switch....

The only idiot light that lights up in the dash with the key in the "on" position, is the CE light? SECURITY light does not come on? Red Bat light does not come on?

sounds like the w body ground bus issue to me. pull the carpet back near the drivers kick panel and check the ground block there. alot of the time it will get corroded from people getting in the car with salty wet snowy feet all winter depending on where you live. apart from that, i would check ignition switch. that involves pulling the gauge cluster so you can fish it into the area where the cluster was to unplug it.

on the wife'* impala, one of the contacts actually broke causing the exact same issue.
