Windshield broke on 2000 SSEi. I enjoy using the HUD. Windshield price from one supplier was $281 for standard windshield, whereas the price for a HUD windshield was $590.

Does one need the HUD windshield in order for the HUD to function?

no glass coverage on ins? that car is pretty new to not have full coverage.

the image of the HUD on a non-HUD windshield will be slightly blurry/double vision. I had one of those on my 95, and it worked, but it was not perfect. It all depends on your budget, of what you want to do.

If it were me, I would not pay double price to have it a true HUD windshield
