Default Passenger Rear Window Issue

Greetings!

Ever since I got this car 2 years ago, the passenger rear window would not work from my 'main' switch on the driver'* armrest, but would go up/down if you used the switch on the passenger rear door....No big deal until today, when it didn't go all the way up using that back switch...I waited a few minutes, then tried again and it worked so I was able to close it finally Needless to say, that window stays closed until I figure out what'* happening....I've searched and can't really find anything comparable that would fit the symptoms I had...Any suggestions? :?

BTW: there are no other elecrical issues/problems going on, and haven't been since I got the car...

Can you tell if it'* a mechanical or electrical issue? When the window finally went up, was there any noise (other than normal motor noise) on its way up? When it'* not working, do you hear a click when the switch is depressed? The way it'* sounded at this point is that you need to replace the switch(es).

When the window finally went up, it sounded normal [no grinding, etc.].
When the passenger rear switch was depressed, there was no clicking.
[There never had been clicking from the 'Main' switch for this window: it never worked at all, I always had to lean backove the seat & use the rear switch.]

To compound my confusion, just today, while trying to open the driver'* side rear window from the 'Main' controls, I accidently hit the switch for the passenger'* rear window, and it worked, something it hasn't done since I got the car 2 uears ago: I was able to get it to go up by using the passenger rear switch, but now I'm even more confused....

Sounds as if you have either an intermittent switch or wiring problem. Between the two, I'd start by replacing the switch in the back and see if that starts it working. If so, then you can see about replacing the main switch. I'd check at a junkyard for them, or with BIll Boost and see if he has any in his stash.

Sounds logical Archon, but I'm wondering if there'* anything I could try before tearing into the passenger rear armrest or main armrest [or both!] :(
Do you think spraying contact cleaner in there is worth a shot?...
Are there grounds that I could check that might be the cause of this?...

I don't think that you'd be able to get the contact cleaner into the switch area by just spraying from the outside. One way or another, I believe you'll have to tear into the switches. Sorry, I don't have the wiring diagrams for your car. I don't know if the ground is part of the grounding bus in the footwells, or not. I don't believe that to be the issue, though as you'd experience other problems over the two year period instead of just the window

Frequently the issue is simply cleaning the contacts where the switch posts push into the connector. Once you pop a switch out..you'll see what i mean.

If you need a couple test subjects ...holler...i've got a 'few'
