Default PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW

MY GRANDMOTHER HAS A 2001 SLE AND CALLED ME THIS WEEKEND ABOUT HER REAR WINDOW. SHE ROLLED IT DOWN AND IT WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. I TOOK THE DOOR PANEL OFF AND IT IS STILL ON TRACK BUT WHEN YOU ROLL IT UP THE WINDOW STAYS (THE MOTOR STILL WORKS) BUT A METAL WIRE UNWINDS INTO THE DOOR. IF YOU PULL THE WINDOW UP IT WILL STAY(BY FRICTION) AND WHEN YOU ROLL IT DOWN IT WILL PULL ITSELF DOWN BUT NOT GO BACK UP. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a common problem with these cars. Many reports of the window falling and wont come up.
Heres a link on how to get at it. http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ndow+regulator

I don't think any aftermarket vendor makes the window regulator, so you have to deal with GM. At a local dealer, they cost around $300.

I have bought several of them from www.gmpartsdirect.com. It'* the same GM part you get at your local dealer...pretty-much at wholesale price. I think the last window regulator I bought cost me about $180.

My experience has been once one of them fails, get ready for the others to go shortly.

please tell me that when you say others that you are refering to the other rear window. tell me that all four windows are not the same. at 200.00 a window that would be a nightmare to replace all four.

Well, I guess I have good news: my front passenger side regulator is still original....so I've only had to replace three of them....so far. The rear ones both went pretty quick for some reason.

There really is a bad design problem with the unit affecting the Bonneville and the LeSabre. I'm really surprised that an aftermarket company hasn't started making them yet....there should be a big market!

K...got my window all hauled apart. The cable that pulls it up and down is broken. Know how much they want for that Canadian? $450!!!!! yea...you can imagine my response to them. Please don't tell me you guys paid $250 US for that stupid cable...because GM won't sell it separate. My dad is just rigging me up a cable for it out of a stronger cable I'm beginning to wonder if my car is a lemon....broken spring/wheel bearing/ possibly the whole STRUT is blown, paint bubble "hood herpes" and now this @#^&*%!$ windows...
