Noise when accelerating
I recently changed the oil. I now hear a noise after the car warms up. When accelerating at low speeds it sounds like belt. The shop said the put 5w oil but they said the noise does not have anything to do with it. This noise is familiar to me though. I've had heard it before in other cars.

Noise
My car is a 1999 Boneville. It'* hard to describe the sound. I would say it'* like a squeal or whine. Not too loud. As I said before it'* a sound I heard before in other American cars. It does it both in neutral or drive while I accelerate. I'ts sort of familiar. However, I just noticed it after the oil change. The shop said it may have spill some oil on a belt or something. It'* been 6 days and still keeps doing it. I wish I know if it'* something I should take care. I like better to prevent a problem than to just let it go.

If they got oil on the belt that could cause it to squeal. Take a look at your belt and see if you see any signs of oil on it. If you do thats prolly whats causing it.

its probably oil, but the other common thing is the a/c clutch adjustment, try turning in the a/c and see if it goes away, if not its likely the belt

My guess is the water pump bearing is out and the impeller is shaving away at the front cover until the water pump "locks up" and kicks off the belt.
Take the belt off and see if the WP pulley wobbles.

I don't think she said anything about it kicking off the belt ... just squealing. Doesn't hurt to check, but usually when the water pump gets to that point there will be coolant coming out the relief port.
