Default Upper dash trim replacement

Just bought a 2004 Grand Prix GTP today with 93,xxx miles on it. Great looking and driving car!
I have 2 problems though; the upper trim panel that had the HUD opening is pretty cracked and rough looking. I found one on eBay, but it’* black.
How much of a pain is it to replace the dash upper trim panel in these cars? Since it’* black, I’m going to need to respect it dark gray to match the rest of the interior trim pieces. Any info as to which paint I should get to get the right color match? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Havent had a Grand Prix in quite a while. My last one was a 2001 GT, back in 2012, had a 2001 GTP for a while before it.

Looks like a great car!

Sorry, I haven't messed with the dash skins very much. I'm interested in what you do and how it turns out!

Welcome aboard!

It needs some work! That’* for sure!! I’m just going to break off a piece of plastic (no effort at all, it’* so brittle) and match it up to the right shade of gray, or close enough to it.

Sounds like a good plan. Likely nobody will be able to tell the difference.

Carid makes a dash kit, but I am not sure how easy it is to use.
It would not match the color, but they have some good looking options considering it is peel and stick.....
