Default TPMS not working

hello. I just bought a 2008 Pontiac G6. everything works great except when you bring up the TPMS its just dashes for each tire. the build sheet said it came with "Wheels, 17" 5 Spoke" and it has steal rims with hubcaps on now. could it be that the rims have been changed out and the TPMS has been overridden so it wouldn't through an error code? thanks for any advice.

It'* quite possible, if the wheels/rims were changed, you might have two possibilities.....

One, the new rims(sensors) were not programmed......

Two, it'* possible your new wheels don't even have the sensors in them.....

You can manually try to program them yourself.....

Go to Pontiac.com......punch in the info for your owner'* manual(if you don't have one)....go to page 5-74, and there are two procedures there, with keyless entry/without keyless entry.....you can either add or remove air....I prefer to add air to get the horn to chirp for each wheel.....if you do the procedure and the first wheel, the LF, does not chirp, then restart the procedure, and start at another wheel...if still no chirp, restart the procedure at another wheel......the reason why I say this, is to see if we are getting a response from ANY OF THE SENSORS......if we get none from all four, then you will have to take a wheel off, opo the bead from the rim, and see if you have a sensor on the other end of that valve stem....if there is one, then either all four are bad, the wrong ones, or there is a problem with the system......

These batteries can last 5-12 years/100K miles....they can also go a lot sooner......

ok will have to try and program when it gets a little warmer outside. I did notice that all four tires have the green nitrogen caps on if that would make a difference.
