Ticking noise and coolant loss
So I'm having two seperate problems with my 2004 pontiac grand prix gtp comp G. Equipped with the 3.8 series III, supercharged of course. Here lately the engine has been ticking on cold start ups, but goes away when it gets warm. I know it'* due for an oil change and a good internal cleaning. The noise appears to come from the valve train. So maybe the lifters are loud? I know my oil sending unit went bad and I lost all my oil while driving, didn't kick up and doesn't appear to be any damage or noises other than the tick. But am using oil somewhere other than my exhaust. problem #2. I'm losing coolant and can't find where, doesn't smoke white. Except for a minute at start up, was told it could be condensation. No milky oil, no oily antifreeze, heater core is new, radiator is new, the elbows known to crack have been replace with aluminum ones and don't leak, no external leaks anywhere I can see. Not even in the cab. I bought an exhaust leak tester you place on the radiator and it stayed blue, and I made sure the test wasnt faulty. Help?????? Lol

The SC'd engine is not like the naturally aspirated 3800 engine, as far as lower intake gasket problems, go, but that is where I would be looking if there is no external leak.....If coolant was leaking from the intake gaskets and got down to the lifters, that could possibly be the cause of the noise....
I have heard a few Idler pulley problems, causing a ticking noise on these engines also...

So we changed the lower intake manafold gasket and the ticking sound is still occuring. Ana freeze and oil were both leaking and it was making the ticking sound. But when we started her up she was still ticking, we still dont know why its ticking.
