I’m having to replace the BCM in my 02 Trans Am and I don’t want to bypass the pk2 system (also highly unlikely it’* possible because I don’t know the resistance of the key for this BCM) I was wondering if I could use Tech2Win or another software to reset the resistance value stored in the new BCM to recognise the key. I’m going to buy Tech2Win anyway for proper diagnostics for both of my vehicles but just curious if any seasoned GM techs know a way to do this. Any help is appreciated TIA
Vehicle Key fob doesn’t work, changed battery, ensured key fob was operational, reprogrammed said key fob and still no function. My next step was replace the transmitter which is when I learned it was integrated in the BCM. I’m almost positive the BCM will fix it I just need to know if there’* any option to relearn the key resistance without desoldering the EEPROM and resoldering to the new used BCM
If you're willing and able to open a BCM and re-solder etc., it would probably be a good idea to open the one you have and trace every circuit to look for breaks.
One way you could get around the re-learn issue is to figure out the resistance that the replacement used BCM is looking for. There are only 15 possibilities:
Interesting though, I didn't know that these keys made it into the third millennium. Thought they faded out at the end of the second.
