Default electrical problems, needing help

My wife has a 2003 pontiac grand am. We have owned it for about 4 years, third owner. second owner installed remote start. We have had the security light problem since we bought it and do the 10 second restart thing. This winter the car finally just wouldnt start and i would have to jump it so we replaced the battery. On Christmas we were heading home and the lights on the dash came on and the gauges stopped working and it died. I wiggled the battery cables and it started and made it home, i tightened the cable connections. Today I got in it and started it, the battery light came on, then the airbag light, then the security light then the gas gauge went down and the light came on and the other gauges went down and the head lights dimmed and car was about to die and i shut it off. Tried to start again and service engine soon light came on and made clicking sound but would not turn over.

the big cables dont just need to be tight they need to be clean, you need to take both sides of the wire off, clean them till shiny, clean whatever they attach to till shiny and reassemble with dielectric grease. if thats not it next likley is your alt is dieing and not recharging the battery. check the voltage at the battery with a meter with the engine running needs to be more than 13v, after cleaning the cables

when used for other terminations for the same reason its fine, you want to keep the same things out of the battery terminals and wires as you do the spark plug wires
