Default Door lock issues

Hello I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand am gt. So my issue is that while the car is running I can use the switch to unlock the drivers door I have to manually unlock it. The locks all work just fine when car is off what could the issue be. Is it just a factory safety thing and if so can I disable that function or is it something else.

Ok, your door locks work normally, when the car is off....

With the car running, and you take the vehicle out of Park, I assume you are saying the doors automatically lock.....but when you put the vehicle back into Park, they do not automatically unlock....you have to do that manually...is this correct?

If yes, then this can be changed to unlock automatically when put into Park.....go to your owner'* manual and look in the index at the back, for "Personalization".......this will walk you through changing how your door locks work......it gives you the different modes available that you have to program the vehicle to....

No as in when my car is running and my door is locked, if I press the unlock button my drivers door won't unlock with it in park or gear, but if car is off I hot the switch and it locks and unlocks just fine

Ok, one more set of questions.....

You put the car in drive, all doors lock......if you attempt to unlock the driver'* door with the driver'* door lock switch, the driver'* door does not unlock, but all the other doors unlock, correct?

What happens if you try the passenger door lock switch? If you hit unlock on the passenger switch, does the driver'* door unlock, or only the others?

Does it unlock from the passenger switch?

If it doesn't, the driver'* door lock has it'* own unlock relay....the relay could be bad.....put your hand on it and operate the door switch to "FEEL" if it clicks when the door switch is in the unlock position....
