2002 Pontiac Sunfire transmission will not upshift
2002 Pontiac Sunfire Ecotec engine. Worked fine in Dec. 2018 when I took it off the road. Putting it back into service and transmission stays in 1st gear will not upshift. Also, speedometer stopped working. When off road car was left outside thru the NY winter.
Need hint as to where to start looking for problem.

Sounds like a speed sensor has gone bad . . . and/or since it was sitting, maybe a creature chewed through some wiring in just the right place.
I would start by connecting to the PCM with something that supports telemetry and see if any speed is being read by the PCM.
