Default 2002 Pontiac Bonneville in Indiana

I have a specific question about a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville.

I am a computer instructor at a 2-year college. I need to be able to get to work reliably.

My old car had second gear start, but it was damaged. The replacement car does not have second gear start. I need it to get out of the crazy driveway I have in winter.

Welcome to the site.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking? By 2nd gear start are you talking about starting the engine with the car in 2nd gear? That wont work because the transmission needs to be in park or N because that'* where the switch is set.

I mean locking out first gear on the automatic transmission, so it starts moving from a standing stop in second gear. It is supposed to be a switch on the dash, if you have it.

This reduces torque to the point that it prevents wheel spin on ice or snow. My old car had it, but it was damaged. That'* how I know second gear start works.

I started another post to actually describe the problem. Answer me there.
