Default 2001 grand am 2.4, crank but no start

daughter was in a drive thru which the car started running rough then died. Had it towed home. The codes I pulled was a misfire and B2965. B2965 is key in ignition open circuit so today I replaced the ignition housing inside the dash along with a new ignition cylinder. left key in the ON position for 10 mins and started cranking. Starter took a dump so I'm gonna have to try tomorrow when I replace it. But what I could crank it sure didn't sound like it was gonna start. The car already has the resistor mod done to it and the Security light goes out after several sounds when you turn the key. any thoughts on this?

Verify fuel pressure when you turn key on.

I don't have any equipment to test pressure but I do hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key

Seems like a huge coincidence that it stalled and ate a starter at about the same time. Maybe this is because the starter was already really tired and then someone cranked on it a lot until it gave up . . . ?

I agree with Mike above ^^^^^^^ , I'd start with fuel pressure, new pump or not.

I installed the starter and finally got her to fire up but running like it on 2 cylinders. scanner isn't showing any codes and live data isn't showing misfires. Tried Starting fluid and that didn't help.

Sounds like low fuel pressure. Please find a way to get a fuel pressure tester on that fuel rail.

BTW, what brand fuel pump did you put in?
