1997 was an odd year on some of the platforms, but I believe the supercharged models already finished the changeover in 1997. I'd guess 1997-1999 supercharged vehicles (GTP, GS, Ultra) would be fairly safe, but check gear ratios and connections first.

Now the trick is going to be finding one that isn't as bad as yours. The transmission is usually the weak point if coolant loss didn't kill the engine.

Yes, you will throw a code, which one I don't remember, but I had the same thing happen when I grenaded my 3.06 diff and I installed a 2.83 diff. Your PCM is programmed to shift at certain points and either yours will shift early causing a bog, or shifting late causing shitty fuel mileage.

Sorry, was referring to finding a donor car. They usually eat the transmission first and nobody wants to pay for a rebuild. Otherwise the 3800 Series 2'* mostly died of coolant loss through plastic elbows or intake manifold issues. Some of those might still have a good transmission in them.
