I think I will swap the fluid for the new stuff we got now and throw a filter on it and see unless someone else comes up with something

to me it sounds more like a problem with however it controls wot shifts, if its an electronic trans then i would suspect the map sensor. just because the trans is shifting when told to it seems. there could be something wrong with the pcm too or tps. it would help if you could hook up the scanner and see if things are in spec at wot

It is a a cable driven trans remember tech ones do not give very much information but I will see what I can get out of 1 tomorrow

The transmission in that 94 should be a 4T60-E. Which means, its electronic, which means, the shifting is done via the PCM, but can also be "manually" shifted via the cable. Unless your talking about the old style carb'd kick down cable.

I agree. This sounds like a throttle position sensor gone bad. I accidentally created this issue once by installing a new TPS backwards -- and sure enough, it revved almost to the redline, and then shifted when I let up on the throttle.

Since you don't have OBD-II, you can't just plug in a scan tool to read the TPS voltage. If you have a multimeter, try Dan'* TPS test.

Yes my transmission has the kickdown cable mine actually bounces off the rev limiter instead of shifting

Not today. I may be able to from work tomorrow. To be honest didn't actually look on car just going off what my parts department told me based off my vin
