Default 1990 GP SE model starts then dies

my 1990 pontiac grand prix SE model has a nonturbo 3.1 v6.

it will start just fine, and idle, but when i rev it up, soon it will cut out and die. i will try to press the gas pedal to keep it going, but it does nothing.

i have had a code for a MAP sensor and CRANK sensor, and i did replace those sensors. changed all spark plugs and wires, and i have a new airtex fuel pump and i bought a filter this spring.

i have spark as tested with a spark tester, and 42 PSI at the fuel rail which is in specs according to the CHILTON manual.

i have guessed before that it could be a oil sender switch, and i tried hot wiring the fuel pump to a toggle switch bypassing the oil pressure switch, and running it manually. it still dies....

please help thanks

ive seen the maf do this, not sure about the codes seems confusing. did you try giving the maf a few good whacks with a screwdriver see if it stumbles? ohm out to the pcm and inspect the sensors you replaced?

i had a 90 gp coupe put about 300k on it with out ever doing anything to the engine.

only the early 88 2.8s got the MAF, the rest were all speed-density.

TPS can cause these issues, so at the very least take a multimeter and check voltage while opening the throttle, should smoothly change from ~.5 volts at idle to ~4.5 volts at WOT. obviously, do this with the key on, engine off. for a 90, dark blue is the signal wire, black is ground.

I was going to say the same thing as Robert did. I had a similar problem and the TPS was the culprit. It never threw a code.
