i'm not the expert in areas of radiant heat transfers, but this would prevent some amount of heat transfer to the air filter itself. the problem is it will not stop the hot air from around the filter from being drawn in which is what we all are trying to prevent with our CAI'* and FWI'*.

that looks like it would work better as a shield to keep road debris and water away from the filter in a CAI setup.
