Series 1 engines are not screamers by any means. Spinning to redline on these motors stresses them enough...another 500 rpm and it will be duck n' cover.

2. Does the L27 make much power past 5500 RPM? Would it be worth it? I was thinking 5800-6000 RPM as a shift point. I won't be keeping the engine for more than a year for sure, and as it is I don't have a single fluid leak anywhere. I've already installed a big transmission cooler.

If I were to do this, where would I take it to get the ECM programmed?
See my response to #1. S1s make their power LOW in the RPM range. This is what makes them fun to drive stoplight to stoplight, and makes them easy to merge into highway traffic. But they quickly run out of breath around the 4k range. S2s are the polar opposite. They have *just enough* torque to get the car moving, with their powerband up on the top.

Alright, sounds good. I'll leave the shift points where they are now.

Considering my gearing though and the fact that the power is so far low on the power band, would it be a good idea to lower the shift points to shift earlier, thus always keeping in the lower RPM powerband? Just curious. If I did decide to do it though, how exactly do I modify the shift points on the 4T60E?

Past this, I'm not sure what other mods I can go with for my car. Aside from a custom grind cam, I'm just about out of options for increasing performance.

Does anyone know if getting a high-flow magnaflow cat will help anything?
