Starting MODS
Blazin..I believe he'* an 00, therefore wouldn't need the oversized pulley.
On a 96+ the generally accepted items are:
Need more air available for a smaller pulley, therefore
Gutted airbox with K&N filter, rice pipe or a Fender Wll Intake. I have a gutted airbox
Smaller pulley: 3.5" or 3.4" are the typicals. I am running a 3.4"
PCM: not necessary, I'm running a stock PCM to keep the transmission saving features in place currently. Transmission has 147,000 miles and running strong.
Exhaust... now you are making more right?
Magnaflow high-flow catalytic converter. I have one and am about to put it on.
A scanner isn't 100% required. Knowing you might have some Knock Retard from restrictions or not using 93 octane fuel, you could (just like w/o modding and running 87-89 fuel) cause KR and if a sensor fails the motor can be hurt.
Currently with a 147K catalytic and a gutted air box with 180 t stat and 3.4" pulley..on a warm day 50F degrees right at shift points I'm seeing 3-6 percent KR. I'm also having possible ignition issues.
I'm scanning quite a bit and plan on having other supporting mods. Aiming to do one mod at a time and record scan runs to see which things have the best improvements.
PEM'*
Catalytic (high flow)
Struts (pre emptive before my ELC compressor burns up)
