I'd like to know how this works out. I'm looking at installing a 3" magnaflow resonator.

What length?

From what I have read, the longer you keep the resonator/glasspack the deeper the sound and less rasp.

So for my exhaust the longest I can get in looks like a 21" length body with a 25" overall length.. which is basically identical to the stock resonator on my car. the glass pack is a 3 1/2" diameter body.. compared to the stock resonator that looks to be about a 6" diameter.

I guess I might be the guinea pig lol.. I might have to go ahead and do this.

FINAL question..if I hack off the stock resonator and put in the glasspack I HAVE to get a 2 1/4" inlet/outlet glasspack (for length reasons) Is this going to cause a problem, major restriction, etc.. in my exhaust being it is 2 1/2" from the manifolds back to the "Y".....or is it nothing to worry about being the exhaust goes down to 2 1/4" anyways once it gets to the Y and through the mufflers? From what I understand your exhaust only flows as good as your most restrictive portion..and if it is already 2 1/4" elsewhere in the exhaust it shouldnt matter to put a 2 1/4" glasspack in correct?

Thanks guys.

5"x14" body, 3" in/out

Your exhaust will move as fast as the narrowest point. As I upgrade mine, I always go bigger, never smaller.

ugh.. well I don't know if I am gonna be able to experiment then. Don't want to make any other part of my exhaust smaller than it already is. If they made a 25" length 2 1/2" glasspack I would get it.. but everything I have found is 28".

the only 25" (21" body) I have found is 2 1/4"

and I don't really want to go any shorter being the longer the better.

If that damn O2 sensor was a few inches further forward towards the cat, this would not be an issue...although if I take it to a shop to get welded I would think he could find a way to make it fit.. the shops down here suck though and try to charge extra for every little thing.. if they have to spend 2 extra minutes to heat and bend a pipe they want another $20 for it..

Now this has my attention:

20" body, 25" overall length 2.5" inlet/outlet chambered powerstick muffler (have heard several V8'* with these and it is amazing)

How much louder does the exhaust get with a high flow catalytic converter, and how does it affect the tone?
