I sent in a sample of my used oil to Blackstone Labs. It seems that I don't have to worry about it wearing out anytime soon. A big relief, because many were worried about the bottom end and stuff.

I'd say, at least with the engine, it'* safe to supercharge an LN3, and I'd do it again.

how much does that cost? where do you send it? how much do they need? sounds like something everybody should look into~

Adding Forced Induction won't cause problems you'll see in the oil, at least not right away. The effects will be on the trans.

Wear over time will likely affect the inferior valvetrain components and the wrist pins. Those are the two key 'weak spots' on 3800'* from 87-92.

Not meaning to advertise for them, but I don't mind mentioning a good service.

At their site you can request a free kit, which has a little form you fill out about your engine and a bottle for the oil, that all goes in a bigger bottle.

I found out about them from thedieselstop.com and explorerforum.com (diesel Fords and Explorers). Those dudes mostly get the tests to see how their extended oil changes are doing.

Since I mentioned thedieselstop.com, I got a little discount, and it was $18. I elected to also have the "TBN" test, an extra $10, which will tell you how much additives are left in your oil (for the extended change guys).

They don't need much oil. 3-4 ounces.

Their lab is in Fort Wayne, IN.

Again, I mostly did it since I wanted to know how the LN3'* internals were doing, and hey, it'* doing just fine

Tranny: yeah, it'* gonna blow one of these days. All the better excuse to swap in a 6 speed manual.

Valves: I do still have those L67 heads, so when they blow, I can convert.

Got about 13k miles on the swap.
