Gutted cat? That'* not doing anything to fight KR. What it will do is get me a $250 reward for turning him in. It'* a Federal Law, regardless of local emissions laws and testing.
Thank you. $$$$
After he pays the fine for the gutted cat, PEM'* would be the next move. In the meantime, I'd take the pulley off or put a 3.5" on it.

I'm actually not turning him in. I'm making a point that there is no gain to be had for him, it'* illegal, and it'* irresponsible.
A good hi-flow cat is $50 bucks or so.

I know that high flow cats are cheep, but I don't understand how a high flow cat helps power and no cat doesn't help power any?
I understand how it'* illegal and it'* irresponsible, and I even told him that, but it has to help power.
Reguardless, do you think he should have KR with those mods? I don't think he should, but what do your guys think.

No cat does not help whatsoever. You lose alot of backpressure and low end torque. Hi-flow cat is highly recommended. I removed the cat off of my 96 Ciers, I lost alot of low end power.

What'* the transition between too much backpressure and not enough? I can feel how his car lost low end and really gained high end.
I don't know, but gutted it will stay. He'* not going to put a cat in.
Any ideas or opinions?

He'* not flowing nearly enough to warrant needing a 'track pipe' in place of the cat. Not even close.
And there are MANY L67'* here that had KR with a 3.4" pulley. They either went back to a 3.5" or changed to PEM'* or Headers.
That'* why we usually suggest a 3.5" pulley to start with until other supporting mods are in place.
