Oh crap. Thanks for reminding me. Gotta make sure I pump that crap out before I pull it off :P

Not gonna matter.... 8)

Yeah I just want to avoid a puddle of what has to be the worst smelling stuff I've ever had the misfortune to smell.

Don't joke around that you forgot you needed to drain the oil.

That's like saying you don't remember that you need to take off the boost pressure plate throw out bearing before you can pull the snout off.

Well considering this is the first time I've ever done this, its possible I might forget to do that. Not too concerned since I'll have printouts of the how to instructions right next to me when I do it.

There is one step Bill missed..it' was the put clothes pin on nose step. Any idea of the mileage on the SC you purchased? You can only hope it's not over 100K with original oil.

I'm not sure how old it is. I can only say that the coupler isn't fubar on it like the one on the car now.

Be advised I'm not responsible for anyone dorking up something following the instructions on my website. I have alot of machining experience. Years of it. And a bit of other things on my side.

If you've never machined, ported, or polished, I'd advise AGAINST doing it. It's very easy to screw up an expensive piece, and it matters NOT how much dexterity and control you think you have.

I bought a spare for a reason. Never gonna learn if I don't try. I know what I'm doing is totally on my head.

Man, I found the best way to get oil out of the SC, and as a bonus you don't have to smell the oil.
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...key=SiteSearch

It sucked my SC bone dry, luckily there is one lurking around my shop, so I didn't have to purchase it. Trust me though, it's worth it's weight in gold, and it's the only way to change oil in a 4 stroke outboard without a catastrophic mess.

Chase, thanks for the tip. I'm going to look into it for future oil removals. Won't help me for tonight, but what the heck ;)

Wow, that really does look handy to have around the shop. Not really too expensive either.
