New is scary sometimes.

Siping keeps your tires cooler in the summer, but increases traction by providing thousands of tiny gripping edges.

That traction is of HUGE benefit in the winter, especially in icy and wet conditions.

My tire store sipes the tires they sell because they know it extends tread life. They do it in a sense to give their own tire warranties a little breathing room.

Siping isn't new technology, but only caught on recently (last couple years) as siping machines became more prevalent.

Pics of the siping on the 95, made a world of difference with no-grip generic tires that came on the car:

Question still holds...

Did you find anywhere in the northeast that does it?

MOS95B 03-07-2006 08:46 AM

Call around. Most tire shops should do siping nowadays. I got mine at Discount Tire, and the siping makes a noticable difference in the rain, stopping and starting. Even on the ice, but on MN ice, nothing stops.....

Edit:

These shops listed are just the shops that use ONE type of machine (manufacturer). There are other types out there.

We should probably get this back on Morty's topic. I think we beat siping to death again!
