Default intake size

I think I might have the beginning of a good idea here, but I need some input first. Could someone who has done some R&D on intakes tell me what would happen if you increased/decreased the size of the pipe from the filter to the TB, like what would happen to your torque and hp...would increasing/decreasing the pipe move the majority of your hp\torque up and down the mph band, or am I totally off???
