That will put a lot more stress on the engine bay, as it'* designed to flex like that for a reason.

I have heard of this mod, but most people only use it for race applications. It does put quite a bit of stress on the engine. You can secure the engine down using a chain of course. TIghten it up, and you should be all set. They sell brackets for this for other cars.

Jason, I dont think theres a problem with this mod for most of us. the engine mount is too soft for performance and was engineered for the comfort zone of our cars. A gtp has the same motor and tranny and much stiffer dog bones than our liquid filled jelly roll motor mount

Yes, you're right on.
If we followed BonneMeMN'* advise, we wouldn't do any mods at all.

Rround basically described the mods while we were both talking on the phone laying under our cars looking at the structure.
Quite simple and effective. He has had no problems after 15,000 mi of hard driving.
Consists of fabbing up a metal pipe spacer with hard 1/2 rubber cushions on each end.
Most of the flex and vibration is now taken up by the subframe bushings. Much more positive shifting.....gets the power to the wheels instead of into the oil filled jelly mount.

It will also benefit the exhaust flex joint and improve its life.

you can also use aluminum bar stock 2 1/2" tall 3" wide
drill a hole in the center add the hard rubber (1/2" thick)
top and bottom of bar stock I also put a 3" washer on top of
the top peace of rubber. Put a grade 8 bolt in but do not
tighten it to tight, just run it down snug. I used a locking
nut but I double nutted it just to make sure it does not loosen up.
It would be easy to show you if I had a digital camera but I don't.
If you have any questions my phone number is their.

What size of bolt did you use Rod? length and diameter?
I could use a couple of hockey pucks with an aluminum donut center, it would look like an oreo.......Hey not bad...The Oreo Mount

Ah yes, the old subframe bushing trick.
Sounds tasty.
Use the same size as the original bolt. Doesn't have to be a grade 8 bolt though because you aren't tensioning it. I would use a grade 5 stainless steel bolt and nylock nut. Go with urethane pucks for better durability. Red ones.
