Default I BLEW IT!!!!!!!

Last wednesday i discovered the hard way that detonation is an extremely bad thing!!!!
I was driving down the highway when a honda civic of one of my friends comes flying up and passes me doing almost a hundred so i immediately floor it to catch him (i have raced him many times and won evertime) as i am catching up to him all of the sudden smoke pours out of my exhaust and i loose power instantly. Well a much longer story short i ended up taking a chunk out of one of my pistons. The plan is to bore it 40 over almost to a 4.0 liter and put teflon coated pistons in. Also plan to port and polish the intake, supercharger, heads, and put headers on. Estimated power when complete 340 HP and almost 370 lbs. feet of torque i am so excited i am doing all of the work myself except the boring i am a auto tech. at the local shop so if i have any problems i can always ask them. lol

This is why we say to check your fuel pressure and scan both BEFORE and AFTER a pulley size change.

Yes, you MUST check your fuel pressure. You got lots of KR and blew a hole in your piston.

But do you think that the mods i am making by putting the teflon pistons and porting and polishing will help with KR at all or is there more stuff that i should do while i have the engine apart?? and does anyone know where i can get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator????

Teflon pistons? No advantage with KR. Buy OEM pistons. They're buiilt to handle alot more power than you or I are putting out.

Porting and Polishing WHAT? Some will reduce KR, some will not. You need to be alot more specific. TB? LIM? EMs? ???

Moving to Performance and Brainstorming.

.040 over will not get you to 4.0 liters. It would equate to 3872cc'* if I multiplied right, which gives you a 3.9L.

BARELY.

I don't know who did your CC or power estimates, but the estimates are quite entertaining.

i plan on porting the supercharger, LIM, throttle body, and the exhaust manifolds (or get headers)

also would moly rings have any advantages for me in performance or to reduce KR i doubt it will help with KR.

Please Read up on the Advantages and the Disavantages that some members have had when porting

and you cannot get headers for the Series One

you mention that you have a 92, I sure hope you are planning to upgrade your valve train to a 93-95

i also hope there is plans for trans work too

and it second Willwren, that is quite a high bar to acheive with a S1 L67
