How to port a front EM? - Page 3 - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Performance, Brainstorming & Tuning Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Make sure they preheat to the right temp and use the right filler rod or wire.
One vendor did it wrong and it had terrible results. I can't remember which..

If you want to see how many times and how long it'* been done successfully 'fake' or 'wrong' look to other forums. Not everything is here.

Got a chance to get started on quantifying my "fake" PEM this afternoon.
Testing is FAR from over, but after a few runs tuning the Volumetric Efficiency table, preliminary results indicate:
  • Little change in WOT KR (median 0.92 versus 1.08 before)
Increase in WOT VE% across rpm band 3600 to 5600, with greater increase the higher the rpm (I am limited to 5800 rpm shift points by stock valvetrain, currently)
No change (positive or negative) in WOT VE% below 3600 rpm
Projected 8 to 10 additional hp at peak (5200 rpm)

I think this is going to be $30 well spent, as well as a very good (perhaps, necessary) supporting mod for rockers and springs.

EDIT: when I finish my testing, I promise to stop hijacking this thread and start my own.

well if you get more than 5 hp that good .i can make a fake PEN lets say 1 hour at the most to take it off 2 hours to port it and take a break 1 hour to put it back on total cost 0$ and if its lowers KR well that a bonus .keep us posted and i will have a before and after track testing to see how much it gives
