What about just a straight pipe instead of a cat? Or would this just make things worse?

A straight pipe works very well actually. They obviously flow better than cats, and will give you more power, but you will have to get an O2 spoof for you computer so it doesn't throw a code, and you can't expect your car to pass emissions if they have them in your state.

I've heard Carsound cats were pretty decent.

Of course the best hi-flow cat is a piece of straight pipe!

Whack the cat!

With OBD I you shouldn't need a spoof.

Sol, I know your dad can be "anal" about your car right? So do this:

Punch the cat. Meaning, simply take a long screw driver and gut the hell out of the CAT and blow all the leftovers out. Then you will get better flow (and sound) but you will still be "legal" to everyone else.
